                                    Our History

                                    Picture
Established in 1988, The Children’s Center is a complete resource center, providing prevention and educational programs designed to improve the overall health and quality of life for the children in our community age’s birth through adolescents. Over time, the center’s services have expanded to include classes and programs designed to enable parents to better care for their child. The focus of these programs includes child development and family support services that strengthen families and support children. We chose a location for the Center to best serve families residing in numerous pockets of poverty and low income areas in Corona.

Over the years, The Foundation for Community and Family Health’s Children’s Center has responded to the changing needs of our community. With the increase of people moving into the Corona/Norco area, the Center has experienced an increased demand for provision of services at school sites and in low income housing areas. The number of working parents--including single-parent families and families with both parents employed--is climbing, creating an ever-growing need for evening and weekend programs.

The Children’s Center is committed to making a difference in the course of children's lives. Our flexible hours of service and integrated and culturally sensitive services have been reshaped over the years to reflect changing needs and shifting demographics.

                                    Did you know?

At least 40% of the children in our community age birth through 5 are not current with their childhood vaccinations   • Between 70 - 90% of our clients have no insurance   • The high number of people not vaccinated crosses all social economic boundaries due to the high cost of the vaccinations. The Foundation for Community and Family Health supports services at The Children’s Center. The Foundation commits the proceeds from fund raising efforts to specific projects, one of which is The Children’s Center. Additionally, The Foundation utilizes other funding mechanisms such as grants to support the center. It is our long-term goal to continue to grow as a community-based foundation increasing visibility and funding resources for the community.
